Nesr Ferrotex
First up this week we have a really cool one that I have never seen, never even heard of! This vintage Nesr Ferrotex has a fantastic look, with a classic Oyster style case with the Thunderbird style grooved bezel. This is often referred to as “engine turned,” but that never seemed very accurate to me. The white(ish) dial is clean, featuring faceted arrowhead markers at 3, 6, 9 and 12 with slim stick markers elsewhere. No date, or anything else to mess up the beautiful symmetry. The steel case measures 35mm and looks sharp and unpolished. The caseback has a gold medallion (like King Seiko or Omega Constellation, etc) with an eagle on it. The seller states that Nesr means eagle in Arabic, which would make sense. Nice clean manual wind movement that runs well per the seller. Great, unique piece for any collection!
Vintage Timex “UFO”
Here’s an interesting one, a vintage Timex Electronic “UFO”. The wide disc-shaped case measures 42mm in diameter and is chrome plated. It shows minimal wear and definitely still looks good. The two-tone gold bullseye style dial is clean, with different textures on the inner/outer dial and the bullseye ring. This watch is powered by an M51 electronic movement, which works and was recently serviced per the seller. These old electronic movements are neat, but can be finicky, so to find one that is working and serviced is uncommon. Very cool vintage piece that has lots of character and a unique movement that should not stress your wallet.
Omega Constellation Pie Pan
The vintage Omega Constellation is an all-time classic dress watch, from an all-time classic watch manufacture. This 1963 Constellation Pie-Pan with Turler co-signed dial is a beauty. Yes, it has patina on the dial, but it’s even and is not distracting, and the dial looks original which is getting more and more rare. The case is two-tone gold and steel, and in good condition. The observatory caseback medallion is in great shape, and doesn’t appear to have been polished. The watch comes on a gold plated 7 row beads of rice bracelet, which is always a big plus. The watch is powered by the fantastic Omega caliber 561 automatic movement, which looks clean and the seller states it works well. Can’t go wrong with this stunner.
Bulova Accutron Spaceview
The Bulova Accutron Spaceview is one of the cooler watches ever made. The caliber 214 tuning fork movement is unique with that hum and the smoothest sweep second hand. Couple that with the see-through dial so you can see that mechanical marvel and you have a winner. This example is clean and works well, with a 35mm gold plated case. It comes with the original box, hang tag, instructions and also the battery hatch key! I mean, how can you not love a set like this?
Pristine Vintage Hamilton
You want minty fresh? I give you this vintage Hamilton automatic! This steel cased beauty looks like it just came out of a time machine. The 35mm c-shaped case has a mirror finish and sharp lines. It’s a front-loading case, but there is still a picture of the equally minty Hamilton automatic caliber 694 movement. The silver dial is mint, with simple applied steel bar markers at 12, 6 and 9, and a date window at 3. The original crown is signed with the Hamilton logo as it should be. The seller states the movement has been serviced, so this gem should be ready to provide years of service on your wrist.
Vintage Universal Geneve Polerouter
Ending in strong fashion this week with a rare one. This vintage Universal Geneve Polerouter is a super rare Chronometre grade, something that you rarely see, let alone at auction! The Polerouter was famously designed by Gerald Genta, and is an absolute classic. The steel case with those bombe lugs is fantastic, coupled with the dauphine steel hands and silver dial with the signature grooved chapter ring. The dial on this example is pretty clean, it looks like most of the stuff you can see in the pictures is actually on the acrylic crystal. This example is signed “Chronometre” just above the “Automatic” on the lower half of the dial. You rarely see a Chronometre grade Polerouter, so if you’re at all interested, take a good look at this one. The case has some wear and patina, but appears unpolished. The crown is correct and signed with the Universal Geneve “U” logo. Sadly there is no movement picture, but the seller states the watch is currently running. Some of my picks I like to tout as “not going to break the bank” or “stress the wallet”…..well, I can guarantee this one is NOT one of those, I expect it will end up being quite pricey….but worth it!
